The Alstom dividend is currently zero: the Board of Directors decided on 12 May 2026 not to propose a distribution. The last allocation mentioned concerns the year ended March 31, 2023, with a dividend of 0.25 € Gross per share. For an investor looking for a regular income, Alstom therefore did not, at this stage, profile a return value.
Current situation: no dividend proposed
Alstom is listed on Euronext Paris under the mnemonic ALO and ISIN code FR0010220475. The title shall be eligible for the EAP and the DTH. However, this eligibility does not guarantee any distribution. The payment of a dividend depends on a proposal by the board of directors and its approval by the general meeting of shareholders.
Calculation of the gross dividend Alstom
Estimate your gross dividend from the number of shares and the gross dividend per share.
Formulas: number of shares × gross dividend per share; gross return = dividend per share ÷ share price × 100. No net tax amount is calculated, since taxation depends on the situation of each investor.
For the financial year 2023/2024, a dividend of 0.00 € by action. The decision of 12 May 2026 not to propose a new coupon confirms that no immediate remuneration of shareholders is foreseen at this stage. The general meeting announced on 9 July 2026 will be the next meeting for the formal validation of resolutions submitted to shareholders.
The available forecasts are similar. They show a dividend per share of 0.00 € and a yield of 0.00% for 2025, 2026 and 2027. These data remain estimates, not company commitments. They must be distinguished from a dividend actually voted and then paid.
Alstom dividend history: irregular payments
Historical evidence shows a policy of discontinuous distribution. Amounts of 0.25 € paid over several recent years should not be confused with the exceptional coupon of 5.50 € allocated to 2018/2019. This payment showed a historical return of 14.16%, but it does not allow for an estimate of the shareholder's usual level of remuneration.
| Year | Gross dividend per share | Dates known | Reading |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2023/2024 | 0,00 € | None | Lack of distribution |
| 2022/2023 | 0,25 € | Detachment: 17/07/2023; payment : 07/09/2023 | Last mentioned award |
| 2021/2022 | 0,25 € | Detachment: 20/07/2022; payment: 26/08/2022 | Regular distribution |
| 2020/2021 | 0,25 € | Detachment: 02/08/2021; Payment: 31/08/2021 | Option in cash or new shares |
| 2019/2020 | 0,00 € | None | Lack of distribution |
| 2018/2019 | 5,50 € | None | Exceptional amount; 14.16% historical yield |
| 2017/2018 | 0,35 € | None | Regular distribution |
| 2016/2017 | 0,25 € | None | Regular distribution |
Later in history, Alstom paid 0.84 € for 2012/2013, 0.80 € 2011/2012, 0.62 € in 2010/2011, 1,24 € 2009/2010 and 1.12 € 2008/2009. Periods without dividend also appear for 2015/2016, 2014/2015, 2013/2014 and 2005/2006. This succession of coupons and suspensions calls for examining the regularity of the distribution rather than retaining its highest amount.
The old data should also be compared with caution: the action was divided by two on 7 July 2008. This transaction may change the reading of historical amounts per share.
Dates of Detachment and Payment: This entitles the coupon
Announcement, secondment and payment do not designate the same step
The announcement comes when the board communicates its proposal, usually on the occasion of annual results. The general meeting must then approve the distribution. The date of secondment corresponds to the day on which the coupon is separated from the share: a purchase made after that date does not in principle entitle the dividend concerned. The date of payment is the actual credit to the securities account or the EAP.
The stock exchange price may react to the secondment, as part of the value associated with the coupon right is no longer attached to the share after this stage. So receiving a dividend does not mechanically create an immediate gain. To compare two investments, we must examine the total return, which takes into account developments in the price, dividends received and applicable charges or taxes.
Numerary or new actions: an option sometimes proposed
For the years 2020/2021 and 2021/2022, shareholders could choose a payment in cash or new shares. This second formula, sometimes called scrip dividend, allows the receipt of securities rather than an amount paid in cash, in accordance with the procedures laid down in the transaction. It may be suitable for a shareholder who wishes to strengthen his position, but this possibility is never automatic: it depends on the resolution adopted for the year in question.
Return: Why the amount alone is not enough
The dividend return is calculated by reporting the gross dividend per share in the share. For example, a coupon of 0.25 € produces a different yield depending on whether the action is worth 10 €, 15 € or 20 €. Return can therefore increase when the price drops. This increase is not necessarily favourable, as the decline may reflect perceived deterioration of the outlook or a higher risk.
The exceptional dividend of 5.50 € 2018/2019 illustrates this reading trap. Its historical yield of 14.16% is high, but this figure cannot be automatically carried over to subsequent years. Conversely, the absence of a dividend results in a zero return for the year concerned, regardless of the change in the share price.
- Crude dividend : amount distributed per action prior to tax application.
- Standardised Dividend : amount retired to facilitate some historical comparisons. Alstom has shown 1,60 € Gross and 0.80 € Standardised in 2007/08.
- Exceptional Dividend : one-time payment which does not necessarily reflect the ordinary distribution policy.
- Performance : ratio between coupon and share price, which varies over quotations.
Evaluate Alstom share beyond dividend
A business may retain its resources to finance its business, preserve its cash flow or reduce its debt rather than distribute it. To assess Alstom's future ability to resume a dividend, it is useful to track annual results, earnings per share, cash flow per share and net financial debt. These indicators do not guarantee the payment of a coupon, but they give an idea of the financial room for manoeuvre.
Available estimates show a profit per share of 0.31 € in 2025, then 1.33 € in 2026 and 1.61 € 2027. Net financial debt is reported at €782 million in 2025, estimated at €464 million in 2026 and estimated at €1,131 million in 2027. These forecast figures may change and are not worth the promise of a dividend resumption.
Before purchasing or retaining the action for its performance, check the results statements, universal registration documents and General Assembly resolutions in the Alstom financial information. For the income-oriented investor, the data to be retained remains simple: no next Alstom dividend is proposed to date.
